Representatives of the beneficiary country signed the agreement to implement Bologna Declaration process. However, there are
only tags of ECTS implementation at State Universities.
Waiting for a new Law in higher education in Serbia to be established, we should use that time to prepare ourselves to enter
EHEA. Thus, the objective of the project is a pilot implementation of ECTS in Computer Science curriculum in higher education at
the Faculty of Electronic Engineering - University of Nis (FEE-UniNi). It will be a good start and experience to implement the same
objective for all different study programs (total 6 study programs at FEE-UniNi: Computer science, elecommunications,
Electronics, Microelectronics, Automatics, and Power Engineering). Promoting an idea on integrated University, the outcome
deliverables will be a base for ECTS implementation at other faculties at University level.
Tempus CD_JEP-16160-2001 project - Innovation of Computer Science Curriculum in Higher Education enabled FEE-UniNi to
innovate Computer Science Curriculum by restructuring existing courses and involving new elective courses. However, the model
of studies is not changed, yet. Work on reconstructing CS courses and involving new courses in existing CS curriculum initiated the
work on draft version of new model of studies and ECTS implementation. It means that FEE-UniNi as a beneficiary institution still
needs the help in ECTS implementation. That is the reason why this project will be, at the same time, structural and
complementary measure. The transition to new model of studies, where ECTS will be implemented, requires further improvement
of teaching environment at FEE-UniNi. Existing, PC based teaching labs will not be enough to satisfy growing demands for lab.
practicing in new CS courses. Hence, we propose upgrading our teaching labs with PC stations and our lecture rooms with
projection screens. Additionally, the existence of Student Information System, SIS, is inevitable. SIS, which will be developed
within the frame of this project, will be an E-guide for students through the studies. At the same time, SIS should provide
monitoring of students' status to teachers and Faculty administration. For SIS development and its deployment at FEE-UniNi we
need Web and application server, while for organizing Seminars and strong dissemination activities color laser printer is required.
In order to take a pace with EU institutions we plan to purchase literature and periodicals from the field of Computer Science
Education.
