'Workshop
on Laboratory Practicing in Computer Science Education was held
at Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Nis, Serbia and Montenegro
on Wednesday, June 18th.
The experiences in involving new
methods in laboratory practicing based on multimedia principles
from five different high Education Institutes were presented at
the Workshop. Participants from the following institutions took
active part in the Workshop:
1. Computer Science Department, University of Dortmund, Germany
2. Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis, Serbia
and Montenegro
3. Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of St.
Cyril and Methodius, Skopje, FYR Macedonia
4. Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics, University of Nis, Serbia
and Montenegro
5. Department of Computer Science, University of Canterbury, New
Zealand
Three sessions were organized.
The first one was dedicated to construction and analysis functional
possibilities of different simulators that are mainly used as powerful
tools in involving of laboratory student's practicing and diploma
works at all mentioned institutions.
The second session was oriented
towards distance learning problems. Interesting themes, concerning
development of intelligent based Web portals and Web based interactive
exercises, were presented and discussed, too.
The third session was dedicated
to involving software package Mathematica in laboratory practicing
for computer science students. Different aspects related to presentation
of number systems, interpolation and approximation were presented
and discussed.
