On May 22nd 2003. the Teaching Council of the Faculty
of Electronic Engineering (University of Nis) adopt the following
concept for the reform of the educational process
CONCEPT
OF EDUCATION REFORM
AT THE FACULTY OF ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING IN NIS
I AIMS OF THE REFORM
-
Quality of studies improvement
-
Increasing study efficiency (decreasing average duration
of studies)
-
Harmonizing the system with studies in Europe.
II REFORM PROPOSAL
1.
The studies are carried out through two curricula:
A.(academic)
of 3+2+3 years duration.
-
First three years fundamental studies, with gaining the
diploma of electrical engineer (=B.Sc.)
-
Next two years: graduate studies, after finished diploma
paper exam, a candidate gains the rank of a graduate electrical
engineer (=M.Sc.)
-
Three years: doctoral studies. After the doctoral thesis
defense a candidate gains the rank of doctor of technical sciences
(=Ph.D.)

After the final exam a candidate
receives the rank of an electrical engineer.
2. After each year
of studies a student is obliged to pass all obligatory and elective
courses which make the total of , at least , 60 ECTS (points).
Remark: ECTS (European Credit
Transfer System)
3. All courses
are of one semester duration. The maximal number of points per course
is 6, which corresponds to 6 school classes per week.
The school year is comprised of
2 semesters each of them consisting of
14 weeks of tutition, and each semester is carried out through
two seven-week cycles. The course realization can be more intensifive
and organized in only one seven-week. cycle. There is a break of
two weeks between two cycles and it is useful for students for preparing
exams (first week) and passing exams (second week).
4. - First
year is common for all students
- Second year is divided into profiles (40*+20*
points)
- In the third year the profiles are divided
into majors (20*+40**)
- At the graduate studies (the fourth and fifth
year) the tutition is carried out through majors with the structure: (20*+40**)
5.
In accordance with the needs of industry, trends of development
and the Faculty’s personnel abilities, there should be suggested
majors i.e. specialties which refer to both program A and program
B, regardless to the existing department organization of the Faculty.
Related majors would then be united into a certain number of profiles.
*Obligatory courses
** Elective courses
