System platform and server-side software for e-learning
E-learning system installation
 
 

Server platform and server side software installed to support e-learning within the project is devided into four different layers. The layers, starting from the lowest layer, are organized as follows:

1. Hardware platform - hardware platform constists of three IBM servers, suported by data storage, networking, and power supply systems. All equipment is rack mountable, and it is mounted in the rack shown in the figures below this text.

2. Operating system - operating system is devided into two sublayers virtualisation platform and operating system:

2.1. Virtualization platform - due to the requirements set within the project, in order to achieve hihg availability, VMware is choosen as lower operating system layer. Virtualization sublayer holds the virtual machines with actual operating system.


2.2. Operating system - choosen operating system is Fedora

3. Learning Management System - choosen LMS is Moodle (www.moodle.org). Below this text there are screen shoots that ilustrates installed LMS.

4. Teaching materials - Teaching materials are imported as SCORM packets from previously prepared files.
